The Rail project was grossly under-estimated at $2.7 BILLION in 2006.\nToday, it\u2019s escalating to $10 Billion with unknown costs. Even the Operations\n&amp; Maintenance costs and ridership revenues are unknown. The Rail project is\nnow under federal investigations. There are relentless reports of mismanagement\nand fiscal mishaps about the rail but Mayor Caldwell acts oblivious to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consequently, core services are being undermined while\nour taxes and fees are escalating. GET\/property taxes have increased. \u201cResidential\nA\u201d property taxes for local landlords who provide services to long-term renters\nhave tripled, triggering rent increases. Other fees like vehicle registrations,\nsewer and water fees have increased. Our mainstream residents are struggling\nwith these escalating costs of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last two years had more Hawaii residents LEAVING,\ndue mostly to \u201chigh costs of living\u201d. We\u2019re being priced out of our house and\nhome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of Mayor Caldwell\u2019s arrogance, corruption,\nand mismanagement includes, but not limited to, the following: The independent\nEthics Commission Director Mr. Chuck Totto was ousted. The former Honolulu\nPolice Chief Louis Kealoha is on trial at the federal courts. The Mayor\u2019s chief\nCorporation Counsel Donna Leong is on paid leave, related to the &nbsp;&nbsp;Kealoha federal investigations. The city\u2019s\nProsecutor is being investigated and on paid leave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Homelessness, crime, environmental degradation,\nmonster homes, violations of residents\u2019 civil rights, violations of state and\nUS Constitution that force the city to pay for settlement awards, abuse of the\nCommunity Development Block Grants and so on. Mayor Caldwell is not responding\nto severe land-use and planning concerns relating to, but not limited to, the\nAla Moana Regional Beach Park, the Sherwood Forest Beach Park in Waimanalo. The\ncries of residents to have basic clean and well-managed beach parks and other\npublic facilities in ALL parts of Oahu are ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every day, we see the Mayor\u2019s bad behavior and we feel\nangry but helpless. We see our beloved island worsening. We see ourselves being\nforced to pay the price for his bad management and bad decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We cannot afford to give Mayor Caldwell any more time\nto further destroy our island and price us out of our homes and island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we\u2019re taking a stand and rising up. We need and\nwant new leadership of honesty and transparency and putting RESIDENTS FIRST! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want fairness, even application of the law and\ncity\u2019s funds across Oahu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to do away with political \u201cpay to play\u201d games\nat the taxpayers\u2019 expense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want our neighborhoods to be clean and safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;We want to\nprotect Oahu\u2019s overarching environment, sustainability, safety, and prosperity\nfor our children and their future. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to live in our beautiful island and not be priced\nout!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to take our government back!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please\nkokua. Stand up and be counted! Please sign the petition to impeach Mayor\nCaldwell to send him a message that we\u2019re not happy with the direction Oahu is\nheading!
