The incumbent Lt. Governor Dr. Josh Green has the tendencies to embellish events and information during this campaign. The Sierra Club and Hawaii GMO Justice Coalition recently publicly protested against Dr. Green&#8217;s inaccurate advertisements and in claiming credit to promote himself. Other residents have reported Dr. Green for Free Speech violations by deleting or blocking their comments and so on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second District Congressman Kai Kahele is a Hawaiian native, with a strong and outspoken personality who is not afraid to question the establishment and to ask for clarity and disclosures.  Kahele is also a combat veteran, pilot, and a commissioned officer in the Hawai&#8217;i Air National Guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vicky Cayetano has not pursued this Hawaiian-based issue against Josh Green like the native son of Hawaii has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"796\" src=\"https:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-1024x796.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2227\" srcset=\"http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-1024x796.png 1024w, http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-470x365.png 470w, http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-768x597.png 768w, http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-1536x1194.png 1536w, http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM-624x485.png 624w, http:\/\/countrytalkstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screen-Shot-2022-07-16-at-3.08.13-PM.png 1726w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Controversy<\/strong> &#8211;  Hawaii&#8217;s Department of <a href=\"https:\/\/dhhl.hawaii.gov\/dhhl\/\">Hawaiian Homestead Lands<\/a> (DHHL) is notoriously known for its long waitlist to service housing for Hawaiians. Many Hawaiians have passed away without being served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.civilbeat.org\/2022\/08\/hawaii-governor-candidates-hawaiian-homelands-remark-touches-a-nerve-with-some\">Dr. Josh Green<\/a>, a white man who is married to Jaime Green, a part Hawaiian, has  on multiple occasion embellished his mother-in-law&#8217;s history &#8211; &#8220;<em>Jaime\u2019s mum passed away in her 40s from cancer while on the list&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, DHHL says their records could not substantiate that his mother-in-law has or had been an applicant on its wait list. But that does not mean that she might have been qualified to receive an award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other Hawaiians are resisting the gubernatorial candidate on this issue, including the former Gov. John Waihee, the first governor of Hawaii ancestry to Civil Beat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf she didn\u2019t die on the list, <em>then<\/em> <em>they should immediately correct that because there are a lot of people whose relatives did die waiting on that list,\u201d Waihee said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what to tell you except you shouldn\u2019t say those kinds of things if they aren\u2019t real.\u201d<\/em>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaiinewsnow.com\/2022\/08\/10\/kahele-accuses-green-blatant-lie-after-hawaiian-home-lands-claim\/\">Kai Kahele<\/a> was more plain in his remarks to Hawaii News Now: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Kahele claims Lt. Gov. Josh Green lied when speaking about his mother-in-law and Hawaiian Home Lands in order to score political points.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSaying it once could be a mistake, but continuing to say it again is something that needs to be addressed,\u201d Kahele said. \u201cIf you want to be the governor of this state, words <em>matter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Response from the political pundit raises questions: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>HNN political analyst Colin Moore says he can\u2019t remember a time when local politics has been this \u201cnasty.\u201d \u201cJamie Green\u2019s mom died when she was 42. There\u2019s a person at the center of this and that is the failure of the state of Hawaii to provide people homes,\u201d said Moore.<\/em>&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The political pundit&#8217;s response raises these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When was questioning and setting the facts straight from a political candidate for a public office considered &#8220;<em>nasty<\/em>&#8220;? <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>   2. What about accountability from a candidate? What if the son-in-law Green did NOT embellish his mother-in-law&#8217;s history to gain affinity votes from Hawaiians? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public and other candidates have the right to question and DUTY to set the record straight in a democratic election.
